2013 Buick Encore

2013 Buick Encore reveals with small crossover at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show means Buick will be the first GM brand to offer a subcompact crossover. Opel will also offer its own version of the Encore, calling it the Mokka.

Based on a modified version of GM’s Gamma II platform architecture that underpins the Chevrolet Sonic, and measuring 4,278 mm (168.5 inches) in length, 1.774 mm (69.9 inches) in width and 1.646 mm (64.8 inches) in height, the new Encore is tiny, a fact that shows in its cramped exterior dimensions. Even so, the small crossover can seat up to five individuals.

Design-wise, the Encore looks like a Buick, featuring the brand’s trademark waterfall grille, chrome accents and hood-mounted portholes. The interior benefits from Buick’s “QuietTuning” process, providing occupants with more peace-of-mind. Active noise cancellation helps ensure that outside noises, well, stay outside.

The 2013 Buick Encore is Powered the tiny Encore is a turbocharged 1.4L Ecotec four-cylinder engine that produces 140 horsepower and 148 lb-ft. of torque. The engine is mated to a standard six-speed automatic transmission, and buyers will be able to choose between front or all-wheel-drive setups.

The 2013 Buick Encore will coupled with 10 airbags, electronic stability control, voice-activated Bluetooth and USB smartphone connection, a seven-inch LCD display, remote engine start, dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, heated, leather-covered and power front seats and 18-inch alloy wheels. Official market sales begin in the early first quarter of 2013.
